Back in 1997 when I created my first webpage on geocities. Having a guestbook was the best way for people to tell you they stopped by and to tell you where they had a webpage so you could go visit. Now guestbook's are nothing more than targets for spam bots and 419 scam email harvesting. Even with word verification turned on they get filled up with useless junk.

So what happened to my guestbook?

After turning moderation on I found that only 1 in 100 of the guestbook entries left were from actual people. And after 6 months of moderation there were only 3 actual real guestbook entries. So sadly, until I can find a better guestbook, it's time to shut it down.

People remember when there was no guestbook spam.
